Job Overview

Sales Engineer - Industrial Automation - West Coast

The Sales Engineer position is responsible for growing sales and achieving the business plan for the Industrial Automation business unit within assigned territory. Success will result from maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers, prospecting for new customers, and executing established sales strategies with passion and perseverance.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Become technically proficient in application of Schaeffler product portfolio
  • Develop understanding of customer’s business and the link between customer success and use of Schaeffler products
  • Establish depth and breadth within customer contact network, customer relationships
  • Participate in relevant industry seminars, trade shows, and networking opportunities (Robotics, Automation, Machine Tool)
  • Ongoing review, use and maintenance of sales reports: open orders, sales statistics, Product Forecast, open quotes, etc.
  • Periodic presentations to internal management team for territory performance
  • Regular and timely use of Schaeffler CRM system, SalesForce.Com (Visit reports, opportunity logging, etc.)

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Field (such as Mechanical Engineering), or very strong proven mechanical aptitude w/ non-technical Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years selling engineered components or systems to OEM’s (bearings or mechatronics experience preferred)
  • Ability to influence others' decision making and resolve conflict through a manner that benefits all parties
  • Strong business acumen and results driven
  • CRM software and systems aptitude (SalesForce experience a plus)
  • General interest / knowledge on Robotics, Automation, Machine Tool industries
  • Have an intrinsic drive for results, relationships building aptitude, ability to influence at leadership level, strong ethics, and high agility in a complex organization
  • Availability for overnight travel approximately 40% of the time
